From time to time I am asked to supply an empty USB disk. Some people want me to see the latest and hottest US TV serials, not yet available in old, lagging Europe. Of cause I have to wipe the disk before, handing it out. In most cases I wipe with `dd if=/dev/zero...'. Shredding would be superior, but writing a layer of zeros already takes enough time. Having 75% wiped, then shutting the machine down the work is lost ...
